The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) is carrying out today (29) an operation – in partnership with the Federal Police (PF) – to carry out 26 arrest warrants against suspected involvement in gambling. Operation End of the Line also complies with 57 search and seizure warrants. During the investigations, the MPRJ identified that the group operated in the exploitation of clandestine bingos in Rio, with the connivance of military police. According to the MPRJ, the criminal group is accused of rigging game results, corrupting public officials and using violence to consolidate its operations. Three nuclei of the criminal organization were identified, each operating in a different area of the city: Copacabana, in the south zone, Saens Peña and Cascadura, in the north zone. Among the search and seizure warrants, four are being carried out at addresses of Military Police officers, including a former state secretary of the Military Police of Rio. The names of those involved have not yet been released.
