Most Brazilian courts operate today (8) on duty, without direct attendance to the public or hearings, due to the Day of Justice, a forensic holiday that has existed since 1951. In Brasília, for example, institutions such as the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Superior Court of Justice (STJ), Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and Superior Labor Court (TST). These superior courts should also close early tomorrow (9), at 11 am, due to Brazil’s game against Croatia in the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar. Some courts across the country, such as the regional labor courts of the 1st and 2nd regions, decided to postpone the forensic holiday until tomorrow (9), thus reducing the period of rest. The same occurs in some state courts, such as São Paulo. It is worth remembering that the Brazilian courts should go into forensic recess on December 20th, resuming work after the first week of January. During this period, only cases considered urgent should be decided by magistrates on duty.
