After two years of the covid-19 pandemic, the city of Rio will once again have a New Year’s Eve party on Copacabana Beach. New Year’s Eve on the Copacabana waterfront will have two stages and 20 sound towers, in addition to the traditional fireworks display lasting 12 minutes. On the Copacabana Stage, the attractions will be the singers Zeca Pagodinho, Iza, Alexandre Pires, in addition to the Grande Rio drums. On the Carioca Stage, Martnália, the bands Gilsons and Bala Escolha, and the drums from Beija-Flor will lead the party. There will also be shows and fireworks in the neighborhoods of Flamengo, Madureira, Penha, Ilha do Governador, Ramos, Pedra de Guaratiba, Sepetiba and Paquetá. ′′ After two years of the pandemic, being able to celebrate life, New Year’s Eve, clustering, hugging, joining, kissing without a mask, in itself, is already epic. It will be a celebration”, said the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, during the press conference announcing the details of the New Year’s Eve at the Copacabana Palace Hotel. According to Paes, around R$ 30 million will be invested in the New Year’s Eve party. “Some of that will come from the private sector. We already have two sponsors and we are waiting for the possibility of having more sponsors”. The New Year’s Eve organization informed that it is adapting the fireworks display to the new rules on the use of fireworks. The new rule prohibits any use of fireworks by isolated individuals, but allows the use of fireworks without explosions or even those that produce noise of up to 120 decibels in cases of events held by the city of Rio or by institutions authorized by the municipal executive. .
