Airport and highways in the Federal District already experience the increase in flow common in the last days of the year, when many people take a plane or bus to meet their loved ones or friends. The expectation is that, just at the Interstate Bus Terminal in Brasília, around 10,000 people will depart for other states between the 23rd and 24th of December, reaching 34,000 passengers by the 26th. At Brasília Airport, the total movement projected for December exceeds 1.3 million passengers, a flow 5% higher than in 2021; however, 11% lower than that registered in 2019, before the pandemic arrived in the country, as informed by the airport concessionaire, Infraframerica. Brasília Airport is the second busiest in Brazil, and one of the main hubs for connecting flights, as it helps connect the capitals with the interior of the country. According to Inframerica, around 40% of passengers use the terminal to make connections. Even two of the main airlines installed their hubs there, which are passenger distribution centers. In the case of the bus terminal, the main destinations are Rio de Janeiro, Anápolis, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, but the number of departures to the states of the South and Northeast regions is also significant. To handle this demand, 120 extra buses will be made available. “If necessary, more cars can be put into operation”, informs Consórcio Novo Terminal referring to one of the special operations adopted by the management of the interstate highway. Tips for a peaceful trip Both the bus station manager and the airport concessionaire presented Agência Brasil with a list of recommendations for travelers to avoid unpleasant surprises during their trips. Air travel – Infraframerica advises passengers to arrive at the airport 2 hours in advance for domestic flights and 2 hours and 30 minutes for international flights; – To speed up the process in the x-ray queue, passengers must remove all metallic objects they are carrying – belts, watches, keys, coins and cell phones. Notebooks must also be removed from suitcases and backpacks and deposited in plastic boxes for inspection; – It is worth remembering that some items are prohibited in hand luggage, such as sharp or perforating objects. To avoid discarding the objects in the inspection channel, carry them in your checked baggage; – Regarding the quantity, volume and weight of hand luggage, it is worth confirming with your airline the rules so you do not need to check your luggage when boarding. This process can delay the flight; – Landing and departure times can be followed by monitors around the terminal, on the website or on the airport application; – In the case of traveling abroad, pay attention to the validity of your passport and the visas required for the trip. Some countries have specific access rules because of covid-19; – To board, it is necessary to present a document with a photo. Passports, identity cards, driver’s licenses and work permits are accepted. The digital document is also accepted; – Keep an eye out for documentation and authorization to travel with children under 16; – Objects forgotten and lost at the airport are sent to Lost and Found. In the case of Brasília Airport, the room is located next to the parking payment desk. The contact phone number is (61) 3214-6109. Objects forgotten inside the aircraft are the responsibility of the airlines; – Suitcases and hand luggage must always be accompanied by their owners. For security reasons, do not leave your belongings unattended; – The contents of the bags are the responsibility of the passenger. Pay attention, as transporting third-party objects can be a risk; – In case of doubt, look for the employees of the airport concessionaire at the information desk; – When choosing transport by app or taxi, pay attention when boarding. The taxi service has its own area accredited for service at the airport. App drivers do not approach passengers. The races must be done through the company’s system on the cell phone. Check the license plate and name of the driver of the vehicle before boarding. Boarding transport by app is done in a special area for this. Land transfer – To ensure that your trip will not experience any unforeseen events, opt for regular road transport. Only when boarding at the official bus terminals do passengers travel in complete safety, through regular routes that can guarantee all the rights guaranteed by law, even avoiding the risk of trip cancellation at the last minute; – Regular terminals have stations from the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), and therefore the regular lines undergo constant inspections. Passengers can also enjoy spacious waiting areas and true convenience centers with restaurants, shops, services and many other amenities; – If it is not possible to make the purchase online, before going to the bus terminal, contact the bus company you want to hire to check the availability of tickets and options for dates and times; – If you have any symptoms related to covid-19, contact the company and reschedule your trip. Road passengers have a period of up to one year to reschedule the date of their ticket; – All passengers, even children, must present an original identification document with a photo; – The boarding of children under 16 years of age to travel unaccompanied or with third parties requires authorization. For information, access: www.tjdft.jus.br, in Information / Childhood and Youth / Travel Authorization; – Luggage of up to 30 kg is allowed in the luggage compartment and up to 5 kg of hand luggage, as long as it does not interfere with the comfort of other passengers. We recommend that you identify luggage with a label containing your full name and telephone number; – It is important that the passenger arrives at the terminal at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time on the ticket; – Tickets can be rescheduled and refunded up to 3 hours in advance, directly with the bus company.
