The São Paulo state budget for 2023 was sanctioned by the São Paulo government and will be R$ 317 billion, an amount 10.7% higher than what was sent in 2022. The 2023 Annual Budget Law (LOA) was published in the Official Gazette of state this Tuesday (27). According to the government of São Paulo, the amount includes own resources from municipalities, foundations and dependent companies. It also foresees a record investment of R$ 31 billion for next year. Of the total earmarked for the budget, R$49.5 billion correspond to education, including funds for the implementation of full-time education. R$ 29.4 billion were allocated to the health area. Public security is guaranteed BRL 27 billion, while metropolitan transport, BRL 13 billion. The area of social development, which has Bolsa do Povo among its main programs, will have around R$ 1.7 billion. Housing will have R$ 1.4 billion for the progress of housing policies. The budget is a mandatory document that estimates revenue and sets expenditure for the financial year, that is, it indicates how the government will collect and spend public resources. With R$317 billion raised, São Paulo will have the largest state budget in the country.
