The civil defense of Minas Gerais counts 16 deaths due to the rains that devastate the state. So far, 1,891 people are homeless, and 10,650 are displaced in the 129 municipalities of Minas Gerais in an emergency situation. The numbers are in the Civil Defense Bulletin, released this Sunday (8). According to the State Coordination of Civil Defense, the forecast is that the rains will continue throughout the state during today due to the action of the Atlantic Convergence Zone, which could result in landslides on the slopes, as well as in the increase (gradual and /or sudden) of the level of rivers, waterfalls and reservoirs. In the last hours, the fall of a ravine over a residence that ended up suffering the structural shock was recorded. “An elderly man, a resident of the house, was buried by the mass of earth and rubble. According to reports, he is 82 years old and the collapse occurred over the room he was in. Death is suspected due to the age of the victim; of buried time; and the volume of earth and rubble on the site, but nothing confirmed”, informed the Civil Defense. In Resende Costa, a 61-year-old citizen died after his vehicle was taken away by the force of the waters. The Military Police found the vehicle completely submerged, with the victim dead inside.
