The governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), apologized earlier this Sunday night (8) to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) for the invasion to the headquarters of the Three Powers in the federal capital. In a video posted on the networks, he classified the act as “unacceptable” and promised to investigate the responsibility of the Military Police for the violence. “Everyone knows of my democratic background. Everyone knows about my work in the bar association in defense of our country’s democracy. What happened today in our city was unacceptable,” said Rocha. He said he had been monitoring, since yesterday afternoon, the caravans that were arriving in the Federal District with the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino. “We talked from yesterday to today several times and we never believed that the demonstrations would take on the proportions that they did”, added the governor of the DF, who considered the acts an example of terrorism. “They are true vandals, true terrorists who will have all the effective combat to do with me so that they are punished. That’s what we want. Brasilia is a stage for peaceful demonstrations, where people deserve and have the right to live in freedom. What happened was unacceptable and I will, at no point, admit it,” he declared. Governor Ibaneis Rocha said he will investigate the responsibility of the Military Police for the escalation of violence in Brasília. However, he did not explain how the investigation will proceed, since President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva recently decreed intervention in public security in the Federal District. “The responsibility of the Military Police will be investigated so that we can give the proper response to the Brazilian population at this time, not just the population of the Federal District. Trust our work. Let’s move forward, united”, said Rocha.
