The retired governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha, went today (13) to the Federal Police to give a voluntary statement about what happened, on the 8th, when coup acts resulted in the invasion and vandalism of the headquarters of the three powers, in Brasília. The information was confirmed a little while ago by the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino. Ibaneis’ trip to the PF took place after the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, opened an inquiry against Ibaneis (MDB), and his former Secretary of Public Security, Anderson Torres, with the objective of investigating the conduct of both during acts of vandalism. The former interim Secretary of Public Security for the DF, Fernando de Sousa Oliveira; and the former commander of the Military Police of the Federal District, Fábio Augusto Vieira, who has already been arrested by order of Moraes. During a press conference held today at the Ministry of Justice, Flávio Dino said that Ibaneis “went to the PF saying that he would like to testify”, and that he was already being heard. “We had the hearing of the General Commander of the Military Police [Fábio Augusto Vieira]which was dismissed [do cargo]. He was in charge last Sunday and has already presented his version of the facts”, said the minister. According to him, Anderson Torres should appear in the coming days. Flávio Dino said that investigations are advancing with the help of federal criminal expertise, which is extracting data from more than 1,000 cell phones seized from prisoners suspected of participating in the coup d’état. These cell phones, according to him, will be important to advance the ongoing police investigation. “Based on the analysis of the information, we will be able to identify connections and relationships with what happened. People’s DNA material is also being collected because this is also a way for us to establish links between the damage actually caused and the people who are imprisoned”, he said.
