The Attorney General’s Office (AGU) filed today (27) with the Federal Court in Brasília a new action to block assets of those investigated for the coup acts of January 8. In the request, the AGU wants the unavailability of the assets of 42 individuals who were arrested in flagrante delicto on the day of the acts. The body intends that all those involved in the acts and who were identified respond jointly for the damage caused by the depredation of public property. So far, the estimated damage from the depredation of the Palácio do Planalto, the Congress and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) facilities is R$ 18.5 million. The three actions filed by the AGU already involve the blocking of the assets of 134 investigated, 82 of whom were accused of participating in the depredations, in addition to 52 people and seven companies that financed the chartering of buses to participate in anti-democratic acts in Brasília Anti-democratic acts Since the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was elected in the second round, at the end of October, supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro demonstrate nonconformity with the result of the election and ask for a military coup in the country, to depose the democratically elected government. Demonstrations in recent months have included encampments in various general headquarters across the country and culminated in the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Planalto Palace, the Federal Supreme Court and the National Congress, in Brasília, on January 8th.
