Users can use social name to access BC services

29/01/2023
in English

Citizens who need to request information from the Central Bank (BC) or register complaints about banks can use the social name. Since last Monday (23), the agency has offered the option of the Fale Conosco service. The only requirement is that the corporate name be included in the Federal Revenue database. The option for the social name has existed since October for Registrato, a service that provides the citizen’s history with financial institutions. The BC’s telephone service channel is also adapted, with the attendant asking the citizen if he prefers to be addressed by his social or civil name. According to BC’s Department of Institutional Assistance, the use of the social name is possible because the agency has an agreement with the Federal Revenue Service to access the Tax Authorities’ database and prove the user’s identity. When informing the Individual Taxpayer Registration (CPF) or logging in with the CPF in the Gov.br account, the BC crosses the data. In case of telephone contact, the system informs the attendant of the existence of the social name. If registration is via the internet, the form of treatment appears on the screen. In addition to the way of addressing the citizen, the system allows the BC to include the social name in official documents, such as reports issued by the Registrar. In this case, the user’s social name will appear in prominence, accompanied by his civil name. According to BC, the recognition of the corporate name in the federal administration is required by Decree 8727, edited in April 2016. However, public bodies are still adapting. At Registrato, the option to use the social name has been available since October 1st of last year. The BC clarifies that the possibility is not yet offered in ombudsman demands or requests related to the Law on Access to Information because these services depend on the Fala.BR platform, developed by the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU), which still does not allow the inclusion of the social name by the applicants.
