PF fulfills 4 arrest warrants in operation on coup acts

The Federal Police (PF) launched today (7) another stage of Operation Lesa Pátria, which aims to identify “people who participated, financed, omitted or encouraged” the facts that occurred on January 8, in Brasília, when the headquarters of the Three Powers were invaded and destroyed by coup leaders dissatisfied with the result of the presidential elections. In this fifth phase, three temporary arrest warrants, one preventive arrest warrant and six search and seizure warrants, issued by the Federal Supreme Court (STF), are being served in the Federal District. As of yesterday, the 6th, the PF had served 16 preventive arrest warrants; and 31 search and seizure warrants. Among those arrested is DF Military Police colonel Jorge Eduardo Naime Barreto, who was head of the agency’s Operational Department. The coup acts at the Planalto Palace, National Congress and STF were invaded by “individuals who promoted violence and generalized damage against the properties, furniture and objects of those institutions”, according to a note from the PF. “The facts investigated constitute, in theory, the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage, criminal association, incitement to crime, destruction and deterioration or destruction of specially protected property”, says PF. Denunciations The PF opened a denouncement channel to identify people who participated in, financed or encouraged coup acts. Complaints can be sent to the email [email protected]. The Ministry of Justice has more than 107,000 emails with complaints about the anti-democratic acts of January 8. According to the Ministry’s Secretariat for Access to Justice, of the more than 107,000 messages, 102,407 sent by 27,457 whistleblowers were analyzed. In the emails, there are names of people suspected of participating, organizing and financing the attacks.
