Federal police carried out this morning (9) 11 search and seizure warrants to dismantle a scheme to falsify medical school diplomas. In the action, carried out in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Belford Roxo and Teresópolis, in the state of Rio, in addition to Montes Claros, in Minas Gerais, cell phones, lab coats, stamps, identification documents and documents with evidence of forgery were seized. About 60 police officers participated in Operation Catarse, initiated after a complaint made by the Regional Council of Medicine of Rio de Janeiro (Cremerj). According to information passed on by the representative of the medical class to the Federal Police (PF), professional registration requirements were found based on falsified medical graduation documents. In April 2022, two people had already been arrested at the headquarters of Cremerj itself, when trying to obtain the records. Investigations reached other suspects and companies involved, including two medical clinics. The investigated crimes are forgery of public document and use of false document.
