PF fulfills arrest warrants against participants in coup acts

The Federal Police (PF) launched today (14) the sixth phase of Operation Lesa Pátria, to identify participants and financiers of the coup acts of January 8, as well as people who omitted or encouraged attacks on the headquarters of the Three Powers of the Republic, in the center of the federal capital. In this Tuesday’s actions, eight preventive arrest warrants and 13 search and seizure warrants are being served in the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Sergipe and São Paulo. All were issued by the Federal Supreme Court (STF). According to the PF, “the facts investigated constitute, in theory, the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage, criminal association, incitement to crime, destruction and deterioration or destruction of a specially protected asset” . On January 8, the headquarters of the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary branches (Palácio do Planalto, National Congress and STF) were invaded and vandalized by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro, who were dissatisfied with the result of the 2022 presidential elections. the PF, they “promoted violence and generalized damage against the properties, furniture and objects of those Institutions”.
