The Federal Police (PF) launched, today (15), together with the Controlled Products Inspection Service of the 1st Military Region of the Brazilian Army (SFPC), the Unarmed Operation to investigate alleged illegal arms trade operations carried out by those responsible for two firearms stores in the municipality of Nova Iguaçu, in Baixada Fluminense. According to the agency, the police and inspection action was based on information that pointed to the illicit sale of war material in stores with the authorization to sell firearms, accessories and ammunition (Certificate of Registration), suspended, which did not follow the compliance with the rules governing this type of trade. This Wednesday’s operation relies on teams of federal police and military personnel from the Brazilian Army. They do due diligence on the spot and check whether or not the sales made by the stores are regular. The work affects the deposit of war material in the commercial establishment. According to the PF, any irregularities found may characterize the crime of illegal trade in firearms, ammunition and accessories provided for in article 17 of the Disarmament Statute, the crime of illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and accessories for restricted use defined in article 16 of the Disarmament Statute and the crime of illegally possessing a permitted firearm included in article 12 of the Disarmament Statute. “Whose penalties can reach, respectively, 12 (twelve), 6 (six) and 3 (three) years in prison, in addition to a fine”.
