Basic units in São Paulo intensify women’s health actions

Starting this Monday (6th), women in the city of São Paulo will have intensified care actions through the Avança Saúde Mulher program in all 470 Basic Health Units (UBSs) in the capital. The initiative is aimed at promoting the health of women, cisgenders and transsexuals. The special edition is dedicated to International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8. On Saturday (11), there will be a D-Day with the opening of all UBSs offering exams, consultations and lectures. Participants will have nursing and medical consultations available with collection of the Pap smear and mammography request, rapid tests for syphilis, HIV and hepatitis, dental screening, vaccination with active search, nutritional assessment and counseling, updating of the pregnant woman’s card and registration in the program Mãe Paulistana, in addition to registration of the eligible public in the Território Inclusivo program. Conversation circles There will also be conversation circles with specialists on important topics such as contraceptive methods, pregnancy and puerperium, menopause (climacteric), health of the LGBTQIA+ population, prenatal care, mental health, sexually transmitted diseases and the fight against violence against women. During the week, immunization against HPV (Human Papillomavirus) will be intensified for children and adolescents aged between 9 and 14 years, 11 months and 29 days. The vaccine is fundamental in the prevention of cervical cancer. On Wednesday (8), homeless women will have a special action at UBS Cambuci, where they will be offered the intradermal implant, which is a long-acting contraceptive method. The unit’s teams will also actively search throughout the city to expand access to health care for this population. In 2022, the editions of Avança Saúde recorded more than 2.8 million consultations in the UBSs of the city with care, prevention and health promotion actions.
