Brazil wants to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup

The Brazilian government intends to submit a candidacy for the host country of the 2027 Women’s Football World Cup. The information was given this Monday (6) by the Minister of Sports, Ana Moser, to Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC). According to the minister, the proposal is under construction between the government and sports organizations, such as the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The host of the World Cup is defined by the International Football Federation (FIFA). “We are talking with partners, with the CBF and designing a possibility for Brazil to claim the hosting of the 2027 Women’s Football World Cup”, she said. “We are going to make this move to try to bring the World Cup to Brazil in 2027”, added the minister in an interview with EBC vehicles. Ana Moser was interviewed this Monday on the show Sem Censura, on TV Brasil. She pointed out that the proposal to host the Women’s World Cup is part of the strategy to structure women’s football in the country. Among the initiatives are expanding the number of championships, promoting the inclusion of girls in sports, creating training facilities and protective measures for female athletes during pregnancy. The 2023 Women’s World Cup will be played from July 20 to August 20 in Oceania, with games in Australia and New Zealand. A total of 32 teams will compete for the cup. Brazil will be in the competition and will seek the unprecedented title. The team led by the Swedish Pia Sundhage is part of Group F, alongside France, Jamaica and a team that will be defined in the play-off, and against which the selection will debut in the World Cup on July 24th.
