Enrollment for the Community Broadcasting service ends next Monday (13), according to a public notice issued by the Ministry of Communications. Non-profit foundations and associations from 216 municipalities can participate in the event, which should benefit more than 7.8 million people in qualified locations. The service runs on Modulated Frequency (FM) channels and the grants granted will be valid for 10 years, without exclusive rights. Brazil has around 5,000 community radios in operation. The registration process is electronic and any natural person can submit an application on behalf of the foundation or community association interested, provided that he attaches the necessary documents to prove that he has the powers to represent it. The documentation will be analyzed by the Secretariat for Electronic Social Communication (Secoe) after the deadline indicated. The selection, published by the Department of Electronic Social Communication (Secoe), covers the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Bahia, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Maranhão, Pernambuco, Piauí, Santa Catarina, Goiás , Pará, Paraíba, Rio de Janeiro, Alagoas, Mato Grosso, Sergipe, Espírito Santo, Amazonas, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia and Tocantins.
