The anti-fascist delivery man Paulo Roberto Lima, better known as Galo, reported this weekend a case of aggression and torture that he allegedly suffered more than two weeks ago by police after he was caught riding a motorcycle without a helmet. According to the report, after the act, he would have been taken to the police station, suffered aggressions and had his left arm burned. On social networks, Paulo Lima also spoke of the fear of taking this complaint forward due to the reprisals that he and his family could suffer. Galo was one of those responsible and indicted for the attempt to burn the statue of the bandeirante Borba Gato in July 2021. On the occasion, in addition to him, his wife Gessica Silva Barbosa was also arrested preventively even without her having participated in the act. Galo alleges that the act of burning the statue was to draw attention and build debate about honoring historical figures who killed and raped indigenous and black people. He currently responds to the process in freedom. In a note, the Secretariat of Public Security stated that it has not received a complaint about the case, but that it is always ready to investigate possible misconduct and truculence on the part of members of the police forces.
