Schools that served as shelters in São Sebastião are released

The ten schools that were serving as temporary shelters for those displaced by the heavy rains that hit the north coast of São Paulo during the Carnival period have already been released for students to return to classes. According to the state government, more than 1,010 people were sent to inns and hotels in the region. All are already accommodated and receiving three meals a day. According to the state government, at least 1,200 victims of the rains that hit the north coast during Carnival will benefit from the transfer of 300 housing units on an emergency basis. The units at Condomínio Quaresmeira, in Bertioga, will be made available for a period of eight months to families who have lost their homes. The measure was signed by the Department of Urban Development and Housing, through the Company for Housing and Urban Development (CDHU) with the entity Frente Paulista de Habitação Popular do Estado. The venture, according to the state government, had investments of R$ 35.7 million, R$ 10.8 million from the government of São Paulo and R$ 24.9 million from the federal government. The houses are owned by the organization and were made possible through the Minha Casa, Minha Vida – Entidades program. Each unit has a useful area of ​​43.23 m², with two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom and service area. The condominium has paving, leisure system with playground, community center, parking space, water and sewage networks, drainage, electricity and public lighting, paving, public sidewalks and landscaping. After the eight-month period, CDHU will deliver the homes to the entity in the same conditions in which they were received. Victims So far, 64 deaths have been confirmed in São Sebastião and one in Ubatuba. 57 people have already been identified and released for burial. There are 21 adult men, 17 adult women and 19 children. The Secretary of State for Health reported that 22 adults and six children who were victims of the rains were treated, so far, at the Regional Hospital of the North Coast (HRLN). Of this total, five remain hospitalized in stable health, and 18 have already been discharged from the hospital and five have been transferred to other units. State highways According to the Roads Department (DER), traffic is allowed for light and heavy vehicles on the highways in the region of São Sebastião. Only the section of KM 82 of the Mogi-Bertioga Highway (SP-098), in Biritiba-Mirim, next to the Sertãozinho River bridge, remains completely prohibited. At km 174 of Rio-Santos (SP-055), the road is still subject to temporary interruptions, according to weather conditions, to ensure the safety of drivers and teams working on site. The emergency work on KM 82 of the Mogi-Bertioga Highway began on February 21, with an investment forecast of R$ 9.4 million, partial release of traffic by the end of March and completion in up to six months. It will be necessary to completely recover the track, revitalize the existing retaining wall and build a new one, in addition to creating a new gallery.
