The Federal Police (PF) launched today (7), in Niterói, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, Operation Archangel X. It is to repress the sharing and possession of images in photos and videos with child sexual abuse content. A 38-year-old man was arrested red handed. With it, the police found more than 1,000 videos and 17,000 photos of child sexual abuse stored in computer files. The police took to the streets to execute a search and seizure warrant, issued by the 2nd Federal Court of Niterói, in a house located in that city. Typed crimes The investigations – carried out by the Group for the Repression of Cyber Crimes and Child and Adolescent Sexual Abuse at the Federal Police Station in Niterói – led to the opening of a police investigation. During investigations, members of the Repression Group identified the practice of crimes typified in the Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA) by the man arrested today. His identity was not revealed. According to the Federal Police, the prisoner will answer for the crimes foreseen in articles 241-A for sharing and 241-B of the ECA for possessing the apprehended material. “If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison,” added the PF in a note. He added that the name of the operation “was inspired by Gabriel Arcanjo, considered by several religions as the protective angel of children”.
