The Federal Senate approved this Tuesday (7) Bill No. 3.878/20, authored by Deputy Captain Alberto Neto (Republicanos-AM), which establishes a reserve of 10% of vacancies in the National Employment System (Sine) for women victims of domestic or family violence. The purpose of the proposal is to encourage women victims of violence to enter the labor market. The approved norm must guarantee priority and facilitated access for women victims of domestic violence, in addition to ensuring the confidential treatment of sensitive information involving the victim’s condition to protect her from revictimization. If priority vacancies are not filled, they may be transferred to other women in general or intended for the rest of the Sine public. According to the opinion of the rapporteur, senator Augusta Brito (PT-CE), the proposal aims to give women who are in a situation of domestic violence the chance to achieve their financial autonomy, “giving them the opportunity to break with ties that keep them subjugated to a violent home”. The project was approved by the Chamber of Deputies in October 2021 and is now being sanctioned by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
