Applications for the Student Financing Fund (Fies) begin today (7) and go until next Friday (10). Through the program, the federal government pays the tuition of undergraduate students in private higher education institutions. According to the Ministry of Education (MEC), 67,000 vacancies will be offered in the first semester, out of a total of 112,000 for this year. To register, interested parties must access the Single Portal for Access to Higher Education, which also gathers information and results from the Unified Selection System (Sisu) and the University for All Program (Prouni). Applicants will have to indicate three options for undergraduate courses. Criteria To apply for funding, the student must have taken the Enem from 2010 to 2022, with an average grade equal to or greater than 450, and must not have written to zero. Applicants also need to prove gross monthly family income of up to three minimum wages per person. Students who have a partial Prouni scholarship can participate in the Fies selection process and finance the portion of the tuition not covered by the scholarship, provided they meet the conditions set out in the public notice of the current selection process. Consultation To check the institutions and vacancies available, just access the Single Access Portal, click on the button “Consult vacancies”. Available vacancies will be displayed by state, municipality, name of the course, concept of the course at MEC and, optionally, it is possible to choose the educational institution and the place of offer.
