A collision between two sets of trains completely paralyzed the operation of Line 15 – Silver, a monorail on an elevated track that connects the south zone to the east zone of the capital of São Paulo. The accident occurred between the Sapopemba and Jardim Planalto stations, in the east zone, around 4:30 am, before the start of commercial operations, during the positioning of the trains, informed the Metropolitan Company of São Paulo – Metrô. The company said there were no injuries. The São Paulo Subway Union reported that one of the operators reported pain in his arm. Altino de Melo, a member of the union, told Agência Brasil that the workers decided to interrupt movement along the entire line due to lack of safety and that he is discussing with the company the conditions for partial resumption of activities. Before the stoppage, the operation of the monorail trains, Line 15-Silver, took place from 5:10 am between Vila Prudente and Vila União stations. The Support Plan between Companies in an Emergency Situation (Paese) was activated, placing 40 buses for the displacement of passengers. The line transports 115,000 people a day. Metro reported that technicians are on site to determine the reason for the collision. History In January of this year, a concrete shift between Vila Prudente and Oratório stations paralyzed activities on Line 15 between Camilo Haddad and Vila Prudente stations. In 2020, the same line was paralyzed for three months after a tire burst. Pieces of the tire even fell on the street under the elevated road. The accident on the monorail made the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier recommend the recall of the fleet of 23 trains for inspection. According to Metrô, the problem was caused by a failure in the run flat devices, a system that allows the trains to continue moving even with flat or flat tires.
