The heavy rain that hit the city of São Paulo at the end of the afternoon today (8) left a woman dead in the neighborhood of Moema, south of the capital of São Paulo. The victim was inside a vehicle identified for disabled people, which was swept away by the floodwaters. The occurrence was recorded on Seagull Street. According to the Fire Department, the car was submerged by the waters and when the woman was removed, she was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Firefighters started cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, but the victim couldn’t resist. According to firefighters, the corporation received 61 calls for rescues in floods, 66 for falling trees, and 13 landslides. According to the Emergency Management Center (CGE) in São Paulo, the rain caused 36 flooding points in the city. By 7:30 pm, nine points were still impassable. The CGE also recorded wind gusts of 70km/h at the Santana/Tucuruvi meteorological station, in the North zone, the overflow of the Verde River, in the East zone, and three streams. *Contributed by Fernanda Cruz, from TV Brasil
