Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), released another 149 women arrested because of the coup acts of January 8, when the headquarters of the Three Powers were invaded and vandalized. With the new decisions, handed down throughout the week, the analysis of all requests for provisional release made by women arrested as a result of January 8 was completed. The decisions were released by the Supreme Court this Wednesday (8), when International Women’s Day is celebrated. According to data from the Supreme Court, 407 women have been released so far, while 82 remain in prison. In the case of those who were released, Moraes applied the understanding that they had less serious conduct and did not pose a threat to the course of the investigation, being able to respond to the complaint in freedom. The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) gave a favorable opinion on the releases. The women released were denounced by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) for incitement to crime and criminal association. Four women suspected of more serious conduct were also released, and who were denounced for crimes such as armed criminal association, violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, coup d’état, damage qualified by violence and serious threat and deterioration of public property. In these cases, particular situations led to the granting of provisional release, such as the existence of chronic health problems, such as cancer, or needing to take care of a child with special needs. According to the decisions, all freed women must present themselves within 24 hours in the region of their residence, having to present themselves weekly. In addition, all will have their passports canceled and any authorization to carry a weapon suspended. They are also prohibited from leaving the house at night, using social networks and getting in touch with other investigated persons.
