More than R$ 3.5 million will be transferred to 16 cities affected by natural disasters, most of them in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, which faces a dry period. In total, 12 cities in Rio Grande do Sul will receive approximately R$ 2.2 million for the purchase of basic food baskets, water reservoirs, water tanks, fuel and water truck rental. Earlier this week, the federal government had already authorized transfers of almost R$ 3 million to ten other cities in the state, also affected by the drought. In February, a delegation of federal government ministers visited the city of Hulha Negra, on the border with Uruguay. The region is one of the hardest hit by the drought that affects the state for the third year in a row and impacts agricultural production. The resources authorized this Wednesday (8) will also serve the cities of Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina, for landfill restoration and street protection, respectively. According to the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development, more than R$ 174.8 million have already been transferred this year to civil defense actions throughout Brazil.
