The decree that will regulate the changes in the Rouanet Law should be signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva by the end of this month, informed, this Thursday (9), the Secretary of Creative Economy and Promotion of Culture, Henilton Menezes. The secretary participated, alongside the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, in an event at B3, the São Paulo stock exchange, in the center of the capital. In an interview, the minister said that one of the focuses of the change in the cultural promotion policy is to take resources to regions of the country not always served by current public policies. “The Rouanet Law is coming with a new decree to further decentralize, raise awareness among companies, so that these investments reach all of Brazil”, stated Margareth Menezes. During the event at B3, fundraising was launched for the construction of a theater by Instituto Baccarelli, in Heliópolis, a community in the south of São Paulo. With an estimated cost of R$ 37 million, the theater will be built on land provided by the city of São Paulo and will have capacity for more than 500 people. For 25 years, the institute has maintained a musical training project for young people in the central region of the city. Thus, as in all projects approved by the Rouanet Law, the amounts allocated by the venture’s financiers may be deducted from Income Tax. The Minister of Culture also informed that, later this month, the transfer of resources from the Paulo Gustavo and Aldir Blanc laws should begin, which aim to mitigate the impacts of the covid-19 pandemic on the cultural sector. “Now, we’ve managed to reassemble the ministry and we’re going to start executing the laws”, highlighted Margareth, remembering that the Ministry of Culture had been extinguished in the previous government and, therefore, needed an effort to be recomposed. Sensitized by the storms that caused 64 deaths on the north coast of São Paulo, the Minister of Culture said that she also intends to create a mechanism to assist the cultural sector in areas affected by catastrophes.
