A public security task force from Amapá and the Federal Police launched, this Friday (10), Operation Caixinha. In the action, four search and seizure warrants and four preventive arrest warrants were carried out, one search and one arrest carried out on an inmate at the Institute of Penitentiary Administration (Iapen) and the others, in neighborhoods of Macapá. In the investigations, four leaders were identified – one of them commanded the “managers” and acted within Iapen, being responsible for the monthly fee payment system for the faction, called “caixinha”. “Under leadership order within Iapen, the investigated who worked on the street, among which, a woman identified with decision-making power, were responsible for cataloging and receiving the values as maintenance fee of members linked to the criminal faction”, he informed the PF. Monthly payment According to the PF, the scheme consisted of a monthly payment that varied from R$50 to R$100, depending on the attributions and functions established within the group. Payment was an indispensable requirement for joining the faction. In exchange for the box, associates were guaranteed a kind of authorization to traffic drugs in the faction’s domain areas, in addition to the protection of the criminal organization in the most diverse matters related to crime. The amounts were paid in kind to members of the organization responsible for the collection and also made by bank transfers in the Pix modality. Penalties Those investigated, who are already responsible for the crimes of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, aggravated theft and other similar crimes, may respond for the crime of criminal organization. In case of conviction, they may be sentenced to up to eight years in prison, in addition to paying a fine.
