The Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) decided, this Monday (13), to authorize the disclosure of the vaccination card of former President Jair Bolsonaro. The body accepted an appeal that contested the refusal to disclose the date, location, manufacturing laboratory and name of vaccines that have been applied and appear on the former president’s card. “The decision was based on the fact that the information regarding the vaccination status of the former President of the Republic was made public by him, so that the protection conferred by article 31, paragraph 1, item does not apply to the object of the request. I of Law No. 12,527/2011 (LAI). In view of this, it is concluded that access to the requested personal information is compatible with the purpose for which the personal data was made public by the holder himself”, argues the CGU. With the decision of the CGU, the Ministry of Health should inform whether or not former President Bolsonaro was vaccinated against covid-19. If there are records, the ministry is required to provide the date, location, manufacturing laboratory and the name of the vaccine applied. Bolsonaro declared on several occasions that he had not been vaccinated. The information can only be provided by the ministry after the end of the Preliminary Summary Investigation (IPS). The CGU investigates whether false data were entered into Ministry of Health systems. In the past management, former president Jair Bolsonaro imposed secrecy on the disclosure of his vaccination card. The argument was that it was personal and private information. In one of his first acts, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva ordered the review, by the CGU, of the secrecy applied by Bolsonaro, such as the vaccination card, corporate card expenses and the administrative process regarding the participation of General Eduardo Pazuello in a political event in Rio de Janeiro.
