Ordinance issued by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and Justice and Public Security (MJ) details how temporary visas and residence permits must be granted “for humanitarian reception purposes” to Ukrainians and stateless persons who have been “affected or displaced” as a result of the armed conflict in Ukraine. Interministerial Ordinance No. 36 was published in the Federal Official Gazette today (14) and will remain in force until December 31, 2024. It provides for temporary visas with a term of up to 180 days. According to the text, “the temporary visa for humanitarian reception may be granted to Ukrainian nationals and stateless persons affected or displaced by the situation of armed conflict in Ukraine”. The stateless immigrant must start the process of recognition of the status of stateless person with the Ministry of Justice through the SisApatridia system, available on the Gov.br platform, within 90 days after entering the national territory. The ordinance also details all the necessary documentation to be presented to the consular authority, both for a temporary visa and for a residence permit.
