A judge from Minas Gerais and his son, who is a lawyer, are the target today (14) of a Federal Police (PF) operation against international drug trafficking. They are suspected of selling court decisions to traffickers. In all, ten arrest warrants are served: five for temporary arrest and five for preventive arrest. The targets of the Habeas Pater operation are the judge Cândido Artur Medeiros Ribeiro Filho and his son, the lawyer Ravik de Barros Bello Ribeiro. Another 35 search and seizure warrants are being served. The steps are taken in Minas Gerais, the Federal District, São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Maranhão, the judge’s home state. The measures were authorized by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), responsible for cases involving judges. “According to what has already been determined in the ongoing procedures, only in cryptocurrencies, the companies involved in the scheme would have moved amounts that exceed R$ 60 million”, said the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), which conducts the investigation. . According to the PF, both can answer for crimes of passive and active corruption, whose sentence can reach 12 years in prison. This Tuesday’s operation is an offshoot of another, called Flight Level, which targets an air taxi company in Belo Horizonte suspected of shipping drugs abroad.
