The Rio Grande do Sul Civil Police sent an inquiry to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in which they indict the councilor of Caxias do Sul, Sandro Fantinel, for the crime of racism as a result of prejudiced speeches, made at the end of February during a session of the Chamber of the municipality of Serra Gaúcha, about workers rescued in a situation analogous to slavery in Bento Gonçalves. Most of them came from the state of Bahia. Fantinel’s defense stated that in his testimony the councilor expressed regret for the speech and admitted to having exceeded himself during the speech on the tribune. Parallel to the police investigation, the Chamber of Caxias approved the opening of a cassation process. The processing commission, which investigates the case, handed him a copy of the document with the four complaints for breach of parliamentary decorum. The collegiate, installed since the beginning of the month, will have 90 days to complete the process. Fantinel was also expelled from Patriota by the National Executive of the party due to the repercussions of the case. Listen on the National Radio Agency:
