The South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup begin in September and Brazil’s debut will be against Bolivia at home. The announcement was made this Wednesday (15), during a meeting of the Council of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), in Kigali, capital of Rwanda. @CONMEBOL do not stop! ⚽️We held a meeting with our Council in Kigali, Rwanda, taking advantage of the presence of all members on the occasion of the 73rd FIFA Congress. It was a fruitful meeting, in anticipation of our Congress scheduled for the end of the month. pic.twitter.com/2srl3MQBKV — Alejandro Domínguez (@agdws) March 15, 2023 Unlike in previous years, CONMEBOL chose not to draw lots and maintained the order of games for the 2022 Qualifiers for the Qatar Cup. In addition to facing Bolivia, the Brazilian men’s team will also face Peru in September. By the end of the year there will be two more games (October and November). The locations of the matches will still be defined by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). Conmebol’s schedule for the 2026 World Cup has something new compared to the previous cycle: two windows for the canary team to face teams from other continents. Four matches are planned next year: two in March and the rest in June. The 2026 World Cup – June 8 and July 3 – will be the first with 48 teams, which will face each other in three host countries: the United States, Mexico and Canada. This time, six teams will qualify directly for the World Cup through the South American Qualifiers. The seventh-placed team will qualify for a spot in the play-offs.
