The defense of former Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District Anderson Torres spoke out this Wednesday (15) against his testimony to the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of Anti-democratic Acts of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF). In a letter sent to the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes, lawyer Rodrigo Roca said he was against the testimony. According to the defender, Torres has already given testimony to the Federal Police (PF) about the case. “Despite not having been summoned about the new date of the act so far, the petitioner hereby informs Your Excellency, from now on, that he is opposed to his being taken to the Legislative House for testimony, considering that he has nothing more to add to what has already been declared to the Judiciary Police, in an act that lasted more than 10 hours, and that, therefore, it would be completely useless to hear it”, declared Roca. Yesterday (14), the CLDF asked Alexandre de Moraes to reschedule the date of Torres’ testimony to the CPI. In a petition sent to the minister, the House attorney asked for the hearing, which was scheduled for Thursday (16), to be rescheduled for March 23. This Thursday, the former secretary is due to give testimony on the case of the coup draft in another case at the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Last week, Moraes authorized the testimony, but understood that the presence is optional. According to the decision, Anderson Torres must have guaranteed the right of silence to the parliamentarians if he prefers not to respond to questions from the district deputies. However, because Torres is in prison, his presence at the deposition is not mandatory. Moraes explained in the decision that the STF prohibited, in a recent decision, coercive conduction for interrogations. Understand Torres is investigated for alleged failure to contain the anti-democratic acts of January 8. He was arrested on January 14, upon arrival in Brazil. He was in the United States, where he said he went on vacation a week after taking over as Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District. His departure from the country occurred days before the coup acts, when vandals invaded and destroyed the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília.
