Starting September 30, Rio de Janeiro will host one of the three Pre-Olympic Men’s Volleyball Tournaments, which distribute vacancies for the Paris 2024 Games. Castro, who also confirmed the holding of stages of the League of Nations (men’s and women’s) in May and June 2024, the eve of the opening of the Games. During the ceremony at the Guanabara Palace, the governor also launched Rio’s candidacy for the Beach Volleyball World Cup, in 2025. , including the Brazilian team, led by coach Renan Dal Zotto. The dispute will take place from September 30 to October 8, also in the two other headquarters of the selective: China and Japan. Last Wednesday (8), the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) had already defined Brazil as one of the venues for the men’s volleyball trials. According to Cláudio Castro, the Sports and Leisure Secretariat will invest R$ 11 million in the Pre-Olympic event in Rio de Janeiro. The draw for the keys will take place on Friday (17), at 9 am (Brasília time), with a live broadcast on YouTube from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). Teams from 24 countries (check them all out below) will be drawn for the three tournaments. Only the two best placed in each competition qualify for the Paris Games. One of the spots is already reserved for France as the host country, both in the men’s and women’s competitions. The Paris Games will bring together 12 selections of each gender. In addition to the places distributed by the Pre-Olympics – six for women and six for men –, the others will be allocated to the best placed teams in the world ranking, after the preliminary phase of the 2024 League of Nations. Men’s teams Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Qatar, China, Cuba, Egypt, Slovenia, United States, Finland, Netherlands, Iran, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Czech Republic, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine.
