The carioca returns to compete at 8:45 am (Brasília time) this Friday (17). The opponent in the quarterfinals will be the Nigerian Quadri Aruna (14th in the world). The Brazilian dominated the first two sets. Afterwards, he was outclassed by Jorgic who leveled several times before winning the third set. In the following set, Calderano completely controlled the game: he forced the Slovenian’s mistakes until he won the partial and the game, ensuring his presence in the quarterfinals. Calderano’s successful campaign at the tournament in Singapore began with his opening win against South Korea’s Seungmin Cho (3 sets to 2). Next, the Brazilian beat the Japanese Yukiya Uda (3 sets to 1), qualifying for this Thursday’s game (16) against Jorgic. In addition to Calderano, the Brazilian delegation arrived in Singapore with five other representatives – Gustavo Tsuboi, Eric Jouti, Bruna Takahashi, Vitor Ishiy and Luca Kamaraha – already eliminated from the race.
