Bus crash on São Paulo highway leaves three dead and 21 injured

Three people died in a bus accident at kilometer (km) 512 of Rodovia Régis Bittencourt, in the municipality of Cajati, in the Registro region, in the interior of São Paulo. The victims are two adults, a man and a woman, and a 7-year-old child. The group of 50 passengers and two drivers left the municipality of Lapa, in Paraná, and headed for Aparecida, where the sanctuary of the patron saint of Brazil is located. The driver, who was unharmed, informed the Federal Highway Police (PRF) that he lost control on the curve and ended up falling over the left lane. In addition to the dead passengers, six were seriously injured and were rescued at the Pariguera-Açu Regional Hospital. Fifteen people had minor injuries and were treated at the Emergency Room in Cajati. Still according to the PRF, the tour bus had authorization from the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT). The tachograph disk had problems and, therefore, it was not possible to verify the speed at the time of the accident. The bus was removed to km 500-N, at Posto Real de Cajati.
