São Paulo starts vaccinating people with low immunity against Mpox

This Wednesday (22) the City of São Paulo began vaccinating against Mpox for people living with HIV or AIDS and who have low immunity. 1,300 doses are available for people aged 18 and over. Immunization takes place in two stages, with four-week intervals between each dose. People aged between 18 and 49 who work directly with Orthopoxvirus in laboratories with biosafety level 3 can also be vaccinated. Immunization is available at Specialized Care Services (SAE), which are part of the Municipal Network Specialized in Sexually Diseases (STIs)/AIDS. The list with addresses of the places is available on the page of the Municipal Secretary of Health. Known as monkeypox, Mpox is characterized by the appearance of skin eruptions (lesions, blisters, scabs) in different forms. It can affect the entire body, including the face, palms and genitals. Transmission happens mainly from direct contact with these lesions.
