Teacher Elizabeth Tenreiro, 71, died after being stabbed this Monday (27), at the Thomazia Montoro State School, in the Vila Sônia neighborhood, in São Paulo. A 13-year-old teenager, responsible for the attack, has been apprehended. Elizabeth was rescued, but couldn’t resist the injuries and died. Three other teachers and two students were injured in the attack. The state government reported that the injured were taken to hospitals at Clínicas, Bandeirantes, Universitário and São Luís. “The situation causes consternation to everyone and the priority at this moment is to provide help to the victims and support to their families”, said the government, through a note. Official mourning The civil and military police are on site to deal with the incident. The secretaries of Education, Renato Feder, and Security, Guilherme Derrite, are also at the school. Official three-day mourning was declared in the state. The school will remain closed and a gradual reopening will be evaluated. According to the Security Secretary, the young man was restrained by a Physical Education teacher, whose name has not yet been revealed. A Ronda Escolar vehicle arrived at the scene within three minutes. The first reports heard by the Agência Brasil team point to a discussion last week between the young man responsible for the attacks and another student. In that episode, the aggressor would have uttered racist offenses and, since then, started to say that he would carry out a massacre at the school.
