After the subway workers’ strike that lasted almost two days, on Thursday (23) and Friday (24), in the capital of São Paulo, the president of the São Paulo Subway Union, Camila Lisboa, denounced this Tuesday (28) that received death threats from extreme right profiles on the internet. Other union leaders also reportedly suffered attacks. “Since March 24th, the president of the union has received three death threats in private messages via Instagram. In addition, images of union leaders acting in the strike and their social media profiles were published in Bolsonarist groups, with curses and hate messages against the strike, the union entity and its leaders”, says the entity in a note. According to information from the union, the threats contain offenses, curses, misogynistic and racist statements, and legal and security measures are already being taken. Solidarity By means of a note, the Brazilian trade union centrals declared repudiating such acts and offered solidarity to Lisbon. “This is an attack and a threat to the entire trade union movement, which will be denounced everywhere, including the ILO (International Labor Organization). We also demand that the authorities investigate the threats and punish the culprits”, say the centrals.
