This Thursday (30), TV Brasil will show the film Baptism of Blood, at 22:30. Set in São Paulo in the late 1960s, the feature film shows how the convent of Dominican friars became a trench of resistance to the military dictatorship that ruled Brazil. Moved by Christian ideals, the Friars Tito, Beto, Oswaldo, Fernando and Ivo started to support the guerrilla group Ação Libertadora Nacional, commanded by Carlos Marighella. With that, they start to be watched by the police and later they are arrested, undergoing terrible torture. The exhibition is part of the special Passado Presente – Dictatorship and Democracy Week, a program on TV Brasil to recall one of the darkest periods in Brazilian history. Before the film, at 10:00 pm, journalist and writer Frei Betto and professor Pastor Ariovaldo will discuss the theme “the role of religion in the struggle for rights”.
