Rio creates permanent committee to act in the prevention of school violence

The government of Rio de Janeiro created a Permanent School Safety Committee with representatives from Public Safety and Education to act in the prevention of situations of violence in public and private schools in the State. Governor Cláudio Castro said that the committee will integrate professional forces, including training. Also presented by the Military Police was the Rede Escola application, inspired by Rede Mulher. The tool should go into operation within two months and will directly connect education professionals to the Military Police. Cláudio Castro explained that, through the app, teachers and school employees will be able to make complaints and trigger a panic button in case of emergency. Another measure announced by the state government is the creation of a working group – in the Civil Police intelligence area – to investigate cases of incitement to violence on social networks.
