The Holy Week holiday is forecast for heavy rains in areas of the Northeast, North and Midwest regions, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). The forecast runs from today (6) until Monday (10). For these regions, Inmet issued a warning about the risk of power outages, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges. In the Northeast, according to the institute, the rains should be concentrated in a large part of the northern range, with volumes that may exceed 80 millimeters (mm) in the northeast of Maranhão, north of Piauí, northwest of Ceará and on the border between the states of Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará. In the Matopiba area, which includes part of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia, the accumulated rainfall should be between 20 and 80 mm. On the coast of the east coast, low volumes of rain, less than 50 mm, may occur. In other locations, such as in central areas and in the north of Bahia, south of Pernambuco and Piauí, there will be a predominance of dry weather. For the North Region, rainfall volumes greater than 60 mm are forecast in much of the center-south and may exceed 100 mm in central areas of Amazonas, east of Rondônia and south of Pará. There is also the forecast of intense winds, which can vary between 60 and 100 kilometers per hour (km/h), with the risk of power outages, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges. Already in areas of the extreme north of the region, mainly in Roraima, Amapá and northwest of Pará, there will be a predominance of dry weather for practically the entire week. Inmet informed that, in the Center-West, there is forecast of significant rain volumes, which may exceed 80 mm in areas of the west and south of Mato Grosso, central and northwest areas of Mato Grosso do Sul, in addition to the west of Goiás due to mainly to heat and humidity. In other areas, the volumes may be less than 70 mm, while in the northeast of Mato Grosso do Sul, south and east of Goiás and in the Federal District, there is a predominance of dry weather for most of the week, although Inmet does not rule out the occurrence. of rain showers due to the heat and humidity. In the Southeast Region, there is a forecast for a predominance of hot and dry weather for practically the entire week, mainly in areas of western São Paulo, eastern Minas de Gerais and Espírito Santo. On the south coast of São Paulo, low accumulated rainfall, less than 40 mm, may occur. In the South Region, however, there may be low accumulated rainfall, less than 50 mm in central areas of Paraná and the coast of Santa Catarina, caused by atmospheric instability. In other areas, the forecast is for dry weather for practically the entire week, mainly in areas in the center-south of Rio Grande do Sul.
