Between Monday (10) and Tuesday (11), two new cases of violence in schools mobilized authorities. This Tuesday, two students were injured at a school in Santa Tereza de Goiás. The teenager responsible was apprehended and taken to the police station. The state Department of Education informed that it is implementing a video surveillance system in the state’s public schools and that it is going to acquire a portable metal detector. A day earlier, another case of violence took place in Amazonas. The parents of teenagers involved in the action, at a private school in the south of Manaus, were immediately called to the school, and the injured students were helped. The Union of Private Education Establishments of Amazonas recommended strengthening school security, in addition to measures such as awareness campaigns on bullying and cyberbullying; and the opening of channels for anonymous complaints, in contact with state security authorities. The Colégio Adventista de Manaus, where the action took place on Monday, reported that it called the authorities and provided medical attention to the two students and the employee. Everyone is fine. The school also informed that it provides support to the families, information to the authorities and that it will take administrative measures in relation to the aggressor. The government of Amazonas announced, still on Monday, the creation of an Interinstitutional Committee for Protection, Monitoring, Guard and School Security, to act in state public schools, monitoring threats. Just last weekend, the Ministry of Justice identified more than 500 profiles on social networks with apologies for violence in schools.
