The Brazilian Wheelchair Basketball Confederation (CBBC) released this Wednesday (12) the list of athletes, both from the men’s and women’s teams, who will defend Brazil in the Wheelchair Basketball World Cup, to be played between June 9 and 20, 2023, in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The men’s team, which is in Group A of the competition (alongside Australia, Italy and the United Arab Emirates), will be formed by a very renewed group, which even has five athletes who competed in the last edition of the U-23 World Cup. “We are going with a very renewed men’s team, with athletes who will debut in the selection in official competitions. We will have the lowest average age in 15 years of main men’s team”, declared the president of the CBBC, Mário Belo. Martoni Sampaio, coach of the women’s team, bet on more experienced athletes, including participation in editions of the Paralympic Games. The girls from Brazil are in Group B, where they will face Australia, Canada, Spain, China and Great Britain. The Wheelchair Basketball World Championship will have the participation of more than 300 athletes, representing 16 men’s and 12 women’s teams.
