In order to promote strategic and coordinated initiatives to prevent and combat violence in public and private educational establishments in the state, the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) created, this Thursday (13), the Temporary Thematic Group. Signed by the Attorney General of Justice, Luciano Mattos, Resolution No. 2,522, which establishes the thematic group, was published in the Official Gazette of the MPRJ. The attorney general of Justice, Luciano Mattos, said that the group was created because violence is a phenomenon that requires the action of a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional group. “In addition to provisions of the Federal Constitution, the resolution highlights several other legal norms related to education, safety and childhood and youth, which are the support for achieving a culture of peace in schools”, evaluated Mattos. The measure highlights Law nº 13.185/201, which establishes, as one of its objectives, the promotion of measures to raise awareness, prevent and combat all types of violence, with emphasis on recurrent practices of bullying or physical and psychological embarrassment, committed by students, teachers and other professionals in the school community. “The performance of the Temporary Thematic Group will take place in a preventive and repressive way, favoring the articulation and integration between executive bodies with attributions of different natures, observing, still, the priority axes of action of the group”, foresees the resolution. The group has, among its attributions, the elaboration of studies, evaluations, protocols and strategic lines of institutional action related to violence in schools. It will also act by suggesting work flows articulated with public bodies and other segments of civil society. Within 30 days, counting from the appointment of its members, the thematic group will present the action plan to the General Coordination of Specialized Collective Action. Complaints Complaints about threats of attacks can be made to the Escola Segura channel, created by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, in partnership with SaferNet Brasil.
