Public and private schools in the Federal District will be part of the plan to increase safety in teaching units. Kindergartens and universities will also be served. The district government gave more information about the actions this Thursday (13). The Secretary of Education, Hélvia Paranaguá, said that all school directors will be guided on how to act. “We have to inform the police of everything that happens inside the school. If there was a strange movement, the students report it: a student arrives and says: ‘auntie, there are some boys talking about this and that’, and the director has to know exactly what you are going to do. Our regiment even provides that, in extreme and necessary cases, the school management itself can open the child’s backpack.” The secretary of Public Security, Sandro Avelar, said that the school battalion’s staff will be reinforced, but did not mention numbers because it is a strategic data. Avelar asked parents to help control what their children do on the internet and watch what they carry in their backpacks. “Do not allow children to carry, for example, bladed weapons. This control may even end up in public security, and, if that is the case, we are ready for that. But this control begins within our homes, within our families whose parents presumably they are supervising their children.” Another point reinforced by the secretary was that the population make complaints, but that the prank calls will be fought, because they hinder the work of the security forces. These cases can receive a fine of R$ 4 thousand. Earlier this week, the GDF had already announced some measures such as increased surveillance on the internet and reinforcement of policing in schools. Including, 60 more vulnerable units will receive greater attention. Channel Denunciations about threats of attacks can be made to the Escola Segura channel, created by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, in partnership with SaferNet Brasil. The information sent to the channel will be kept confidential and there is no identification of the complainant. Go to the website to file a complaint. In case of emergency, it is advisable to call 190 or the nearest police station.
