Cristiane Reis shone at the Brazilian Weightlifting Championship by lifting 94 kilos to set a new national record in the up to 55 kilos category, this Friday (14th) at the Paralympic Training Center, in São Paulo. With this mark, the Minas Gerais also guaranteed Brazil the classification for the Paralympic Weightlifting World Championship, which will be disputed in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) between the 22nd and 30th of August. “It’s a wonderful thing. I fought hard to reach the mark and beat the national record. My goal is to compete in the World Cup and the Parapan American Games [que serão disputados em Santiago, no Chile, em novembro]. I know I’m on the right path”, evaluated the athlete who represents the Sadevi club, from Minas Gerais. Full house to host the Brazilian #Weightlifting Championship! 💪🏋 ♂️ There are 120 athletes in the competition. 🔥 This is the last opportunity to win indices for the Worlds, which takes place in August. So, who are you supporting today?#LoteriasCaixa pic.twitter.com/XzK5WArZZ1 — Brazilian Paralympic Committee (@cpboficial) April 14, 2023 The athlete 40 years old, who started in the sport in 2019, has never been in an international competition representing the Brazilian team. However, obtaining the mark does not guarantee the presence of Minas Gerais in the World Cup, since the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) will be able to summon only two athletes per category.
