The Ministry of Justice and Public Security authorized the use of the National Force to support actions by the Federal Police in the Yanomami Indigenous Land (TI). The information is contained in Ordinance No. 356, published today (18) in the Official Gazette. The agents will work for 90 days in the region, participating in activities and services “essential for the preservation of public order, the safety of people and the preservation of heritage, on an episodic and planned basis”, says the ordinance signed by Minister Flávio Dino. According to the document, the contingent to be sent will follow a plan defined by the board of the National Public Security Force. Balance of actions The actions to face the humanitarian crisis of the Yanomami people have already resulted in the dismantling of more than 290 camps of miners in the indigenous land, removal of 70 rafts, four aircraft, 11 boats, destruction of 145 engines and the blockade of R$ 68 million from the mining chain. The numbers were presented by the secretary of Access to Justice of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, Marivaldo Pereira, during a public hearing of the Temporary Committee of the Senate that monitors the situation of the Yanomami in Roraima, last week. The audience was convened to present a balance of actions taken by the federal government and discuss solutions to the crisis.
