The Baixada Fluminense Homicide Police Station is investigating the death of 61-year-old Rio de Janeiro Civil Police coroner Denise Macedo Jana. She was murdered with 14 shots after being the victim of an assault near Favela do Lixão, on the way out of Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense, early this Wednesday afternoon (19). According to information from the victim’s co-workers, the expert was overtaken by two criminals who were riding a motorbike, close to the Lixão community. Upon being removed from the vehicle, criminals saw the victim’s gun and fired several shots. The criminals managed to escape taking Denise’s gun, an automatic pistol from the corporation. Assigned to the Legal Medical Institute (IML), the civil police officer was rescued by her son, who was in the car with her at the time of the robbery. Denise was rushed to the Moacyr Rodrigues do Carmo Municipal Hospital in Caxias. The direction of the unit reported that the expert was admitted at 12:16, already dead, with at least 14 perforations in the body. With the death of the coroner, the number of security agents killed in violent actions in the State of Rio de Janeiro since the beginning of this year rises to 22. 20 military police were killed, including those on duty, off duty and retired or from the reserve, and one from the Fire Department.
